Jasmine Makings

Author, public speaker, certified Health and Food Coach, naturalistic Therapist, Yoga teacher, Reiki master. I have worked for many decades with people to improve their health through natural means. However prior to participating in the food coaching course, I was focusing on toxicity in our lives, not just through food and drink but by everything we use on our body and in our home. The course, which was so practical and helpful, taught me more about nutrition and the link to nutritional deficiency and disease. This I found to be icing on the cake as far as helping people either prevent or recover from health issues. In my book ’Your Wealth is Your Health’  I give a step-by-step guide on how to improve health in all aspects of life. Take a look at the testimonials page and see the results. My passion is education so I run or participate in workshops and seminars to teach people how to improve their lifestyle and prevent health problems, as well as working with individuals coaching them back to good health.

My website is www.jasminemakings.com and Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/LJMakings where you can find lots of information about my work, how to buy my book and how to make contact with me.

Therese Lemura

Franchisor, Author, Nutritionist, corporate speaker, fitness professional and mum of two.
Having studied BA Food & Nutrition in the 90’s, I needed to update my clinical knowledge.  Over the years my experience made me well aware that coaching and empathy with my clientele was needed, rather than a textbook clinical approach. The course was down to earth, specific and most of all convenient to do in my own time. The content covered all things including vegan and a holistic approach.  The support was always encouraging, and along with my passion for balance and good health I was able to successfully franchise my business in 2015.  I endeavour to build a boutique style company with many like minded foodies to help spread the word.  Today I continue to work in the business and focus on the growth and direction of the company.
The best part about my work is that each day is different.  I could be consulting, blogging, menu writing, developing a recipe, at the gym, conducting workshops, mentoring, speaking or doing media interviews.  In my spare time I enjoy breakfast out, good coffee and time with hubby and my girls!

The course was something I’d considered for over 2 years.  I had a passion for health and nutrition after going through my own health journey and a major shock with the pharmaceutical and medical world.   So, nutrition, movement and taking my health into my own hands led me to taking on this Food Coaching course.   Since then, I’ve acquired my Yoga and Meditation qualifications, as well as taken on Prof Shirley’s ‘Diabetes Food Advisor’ certification.   It’s the perfect combination for me.   It’s helped my own journey, as that’s an ongoing thing, but it’s very much niched my business now.   As a Food and Nutrition Coach and Yoga & Meditation Teacher I have a well rounded holistic business.   I work with the person facing their second half or third act of life.  Women who are going through menopause or facing those aches and pains and movement restrictions of midlife are my perfect client.  I run yoga and stretch classes, foody afternoons, health programs and create community.   It’s been wonderful and it’s constantly growing and morphing.  My mission with all of this is to teach people to age well so that we’re not relying on the government for years into our old age.

The course was great considering we can do it at our own pace.  I loved the webinars, the reading and of course the external research and hands on experience that we can do on our own.   The support from the office has been great.    Any question I ever sent via email was answered immediately. So appreciated.  It’s great to attend other talks, seminars and watch other informative webinars and read the books that the institute recommends.   Then on top of that you get the chance to come to conference and meet others going through the same course, but you get to see where they’re taking their business with it.

Since completing the Diploma of Food coaching, I have started my own food coaching and nutrition business called “Nourished U”.  Always having a strong interest in Food, I have founded the business on the belief that everyone has the right to know what food can do for their health.  Nourished U allows me to help, educate and motivate clients by incorporating the food as medicine approach into their lives, hence my catchphrase “Getting Nourishment Right”. Whilst the business is in its infancy, I am really excited by what lays ahead and of course it’s great I can work at something I love.  I have also joined the AAFNC, since finishing the course, and attended their conference in August 2017 – this proved to be very informative and provided the opportunity to hear medical and health practitioners talk about new research and information from their respective fields.

Being able to undertake the course at my own pace was really important, as it worked around my family and I.  The course content was fantastic – I loved that it was backed up by research and written by a doctor having both a medical and nutritional background and qualification – this was important to me and also added to the course credibility.    The support provided by the Food Coach Institute office was brilliant and crucial  when having queries or needing clarification.  I also loved that Dr Shirley was so accessible to talk through queries that I had and when she was unavailable to take my call, she was never to far away from calling you back – that’s important!  Apart from all the amazing information the course offers, I especially loved the workshops that you can elect to take throughout the course  – talking and conversing with other like minded people who were studying the course was invaluable.  Meeting a number of other graduates was helpful through the studying duration and since finishing it has been great to be able to bounce things off each other.

Rosa Tessitore

My name is Rosa and since my early twenties I have been interested in healthy eating as I believe that you are what you eat. I came to the conclusion that a vegetarian, plant based diet works best for me. Of course, everyone is different and there are different ways of eating healthy which you will learn in this course.  With time my hobby of nutrition became the centre point of my thoughts because I experienced the benefits of doing so; not only weight loss but also more energy, healthier skin, shiny hair and much less colds and flu’s! I decided that everyone should know about the benefits of eating a healthy diet! But I was lacking information and before I spread the word over a blog I wanted to learn about it in more detail.

So, I googled “Australian nutritional and vegetarian courses” because I wanted a course that also teaches about healthy vegetarian diets. This is how I and stumbled across The Food Coach Institute. I took a 1 year “time off work” period, applied for the course and started travelling around South East Asia/Europe and created my blog that is about health, food and travel – hence the blog name healthfoodtraveller.com

What I loved:

  • Flexibility about WHEN I studied
  • Independence of WHERE I studied using G/Drive, Email and YouTube
  • Easy instructions on HOW to achieve my certificate
  • FAST response of the Food Coach Team when I needed help/advice
  • Study material not too hard / not too easy
  • Teaching me WHAT I wanted to learn, including vegetarianism
  • FAIR price for achieving a certificate IV in nutrition
  • Possibility to gain a Diploma afterward

After completing the course
My hope is to turn my blog into a little business and earn my major income via the blog so that I can keep doing what I love – learn and teach about healthy nutrition whilst travelling around the globe and find awesome, healthy and vegetarian food everywhere I go.

It’s all about food, after all as Hippocrates once said so beautifully: Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.”

Over the last number of years I have developed a strong passion for health and wellness, in particular how nutrition can impact our bodies.  This interest of mine developed after I endured my own health journey when I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at age 28.

The saying goes “find a job you love and you will never work again”. I found myself wondering how I could apply this to my own life and that’s when I came across the Food Coach Institute.

To be honest since completing the Certificate 4 and Diploma courses of Food Coaching I am still yet to launch my own business as I have been distracted by my current daily grind job and other aspects of life but I have still set up fantastic templates and a format which has enabled me to create numerous meal plans for friends and family in my spare time to keep my skills fine-tuned and up to date. In addition I have created and registered a trade mark for an all-natural cosmetic product called “Mind Ur Beeswax Hair Product” which I am starting to market which will compliment my future food coaching business very well.

I found both the Certificate 4 and Diploma courses very relevant as the content was useful and along the lines of what I was hoping to learn. The information was up to date and the support was there when I needed it from the Food Coach Institute.

I am confident and am looking forward to launching my Food Coaching Business  “Nutrition on an Mission” in the future drawing upon my own life experiences with food and nutrition, skills which I have learnt from the courses and advice offered from the other students when I attended the Diploma Workshop which was part of the course. My niche is to coach diabetic clients back to good health by helping them achieve normal blood sugar levels.

My website for the All Natural Hair Product is –  https://www.facebook.com/mindurbeeswaxhairproduct/
